Many traditional clothes are slowly being abandoned, and this is becoming seen as, for some, a threat to the Indonesian nation. This is exacerbated by the interest shown by other nations in Indonesia's traditional textile heritage, with some even claiming iconic Indonesian clothes, such as batik, as part of their own cultural legacy.
